i tried feeding my puffers a snail but they arent even touching it, the snails shell is bigger than the puffers though, is that why? should i crack the shell so the puffers can get at it?

What kind of puffer is it (Dwarf, F8, GSP)? You should try to feed them snails about the size of their eyes. They will eat some larger ones, but not if it is too big. If it is very large they may take the occasional bite of it.

Dont you think your tanks are overstocked or will be overstocked?

Actually from the tank descriptions they don't sound overstocked at all. And that was not the question.

As to the puffers, they just might be a little too small to take on a big snail yet depending on their age. If you want a lot of good info try www.dwarfpuffers.com
There are also other threads on here about dwarf puffers if you search. :)

What ShmooBeast said, My GSP will destroy a eyeball sized snail or tad bigger inside 8 seconds, and no more snail.
You may try them baby shrimps frozn kind fromt he store,, nightcrawler pieces "about the length of his body or just small ones like baby worms is ok to "cuts down on waste in tank" clam muscles, and I can't think what else like that.
I have wild snails 'ramhorns' that breed my puffers snails
