I have always used stress coat in my tank to remove chlorine. If I want to use purigen I see that I need to use prime. How soon can I put purigen in my tank. Do I need to do water changes before?Does the stress coat stay in my tank or does it get filtered out quickly?

You don't have to use Prime with Purigen. It's just SeaChem endorsing their own product. Likewise, when recharging Purigen, it is necessary to use some sort of dechlorinator before re-using it, and SeaChem specifically states to use Prime, as it is their own product.

I think the warning was about the additives in products like Stress Coat. They claim that this aloe vera stuff gets caught in their purigen and shortens the life time. Anyway, I don't think that the aloe vera is around for a long time. I wouldn't spend much effort on getting it out of the tank.
