Does anyone have any tips for promoting the spread or growth of purple coraline algae?

Thanks

add calcium, stront and myatheium(whatever). seed it with a "nice purple" rock. hermit crabs also help drag that stuff everywhere

Coralline is a wierd thing. There are many claims on how to grow it, but honestly all we know is that some types like different amounts of light.I have had my tank up and running for 3 years and have coralline covered rocks I have introduced, but couldnt get any to grow on my walls to save my life.

Use a product called, Purple Up.

Also from my knowledge coralline will not form where there is pre-existing green algae so you might want to do some yardwork before starting the Purple Up.

and a couple turbo snails to keep the fast growing yet easy to temporarily wipe out brown & green algae in check. I purchased Purple Up and within a week i was seeing new batches of Purple, Red(nice red) and Pink algae growing in my 72 gal. bowfront where not too long ago(2 weeks) i had a nasty brown algae infestation. The huge turbo snails wiped out the brown algae in a week. Adding calcium suppliments also helped alot

but FIRST you will need better lighting IF you are using generic flourecent lights. I couldnt get coralline algae to grow until i upgraded to 48" Formosa lights

i have a 130w coralife light over a 30 gallon tank. Is that enough or do I need more?
it has the 10,000k all white light and blue actnic light. i think it is 2x65 that i run for 12 hours a day and 2 blue led's that are supposed to simulate the moon i run for the other 12. I have two turbo snails and one emerald crab, a peppermint shrimp and 3 blue-green chromis.

the blue light isnt meant to be turned on for the other 12 hours, you are just asking for a nasty algae bloom, and not the good purple stuff but the fast growing brown or green algae. the blue should be turned on first, maybe for a couple hours, then turn on the white light ALONG with the blue for about 6-8 hours, then finally turn the white light off with only the blue light on for another couple hours before finally shutting the lights off for the next 12 hours or so.

Is there a way I can get rid of my purple algae? All my rocks are covered with it which I like but I have to constantly scrape off my walls. I dont mind doing the front and the sides, but the back wall is terrible and I have a hard time with all the rocks in the way. I know it is suppossed to be good for the tank but it make the back wall look like crap.

His LED's are ment to be on at night after the compacts are turned off. They give it a glow, moonlighting, so fish can make their way around the tank. It stimulates coral growth aswell, easy way to see polyp extension. Very useful, especially if theres something in there like an anemone which can eat fish at night, gives the fish a chance to avoid it.

Urchin help

I adde a purple pincushion urchin and in about a month I had corraline all over. They eat the algae and the little chips are moved around the tank.before you know it it will be in patches all over. :)
