I what wondering what the process is (if there is one) to getting purple coraline on your rocks?

I ask because, I have had my tank set up for a month and a half and my rocks are getting covered in algae the brown kind and some spots have green color. Is it like a process?

The live rock I bought came covered in coraline. Since I've switched to Reef Crystals salt I have coraline spreading on my glass and equipment as well as my rocks.

Some of the LR I bought came with coraline, which now some has disappeared (I believe) because of snails grazing on it.

I am also using Reef Crystals, if I may ask how long (in terms of time; months)did it take for your coraline to grow?

Coralline will come soon enough providing good lighting and water parameters are all acceptable...Its one of the parts with marine keeping where you have to play the waiting game for it..soon enough, you will find yourself scraping it off the glass....

Nothing to worry about at all Yuri...

yep.. I'm starting to notice it on the plastic/acrylic areas of my sump and overflow now and a few spots on my glass and rock that didn't have any coraline. I listened to Niko and got my paramenters in line and now I am starting to notice coraline growth.

Lol, and a light scraping is a great way to get it to spread. Turn off your pumps and lightly brush with toothbrush or scrape your glass. Leave your pumps off for around an hour and some of the fragments will establish them selves. FWIW, most of the really purple algae that I've seen tends to be in darker areas in your tank.
