hey guys. i saw a georgous purple reef lobster at my lfs today. the nicest looking one i've ever seen. i was wondering if he would be compatabtle with my seahorses? i have two seahorses and two yellow clown gobies in the tank. would that work? i've heard that they're reef safe, but i don't want to take any chances with the ponies. if the reef lobster doesn't work i think i'm going to move my blood shrimp from my other tank in with the horses, and i might go back and get the lobster for my fowlr tank. thanks in advance!.

Sadly I wouldn't chance it. Just like almost all inverts with claws, lobsters can be opportunistic feeders and could easily try to take a bite out of the slow moving seahorses.

oooo, I just took a look at that compatibility thingie! You should totally get Sexy Shrimp RXDoc!

Okay, I admit it, I tell everyone with a small peaceful tank to get Sexy Shrimp. Because I want some, but my tanks are too big and they'd get lost or eaten. GAH Get them and then post copious amounts of pictures and video! :grinyes:

I was like, hmmm... that suggestion sounds familiar. hehehehe

You just need a nano tank to place some in once I get my sexy shrimp :lipssealedsmilie:

:lol2:

I totally plan to have one for my kitchen counter eventually, but right now, all funds are going to get the 135 reef going. Maybe it should be a Sexy Shrimp species tank. :y220d::grinno:

ooh, thanks for the site, featherduster! tons of good information there! definitely going to stay away from the lobster, but i think i might move my blood shrimp over tomorrow. he's in a tank now with lots of hermits, a firefish, snails, and a starfish. he's very peaceful and i don't think he'd cause a problem. and if he does i'll just move him back to the 65 g. and, yes, i might even have to buy a sexy shrimp or two :) they are pretty nifty, i'll have to look for them the next time i'm at the lfs. and if i get some i promise to post pics just for you, annetteg;) thanks again, FD, for the site. i'm thinking about upgrading my nano to a 24 g hqi (just like yours!) once i get all moved back home to southern illinois. then i'll be able to add a couple more fish, and that site will be invaluable to me. thanks again!

Glad to be of help. I think as long as you are prepared to monitor the shrimp and have an alternative backup home then you should be fine. Just remember that blood shrimp are similar to cleaner shrimp (who are level 3). I should have pointed that out.

lol You definitely can't go wrong with a 24G aquapod. I should start my own aquapod following :D
