Hello all,
Anyone know if this should be used daily or just once in a while and what are the dangers if used to much :bowing: :(

Purple up is nothing more than a calcium suplement, and will raise your calcium levels. Regardless if you are dosing it at the corect amount or not, if enough calcium isn't consumed, calcium will grow to a really high number (500+) and will start to precipitate carbaonate alkalinity, wich will lower PH, and you should no what happens when PH changes to fast.

Cool thank you
That's the line I was thinking along just wanted to check with someone else.....Have you ever used it or has anyone else?

dont bother. If you want to does Ca get a test kit for pH, Ca, and ALK and get a two part dosing system like B-Ionic

Then what will lower the calcium levels

what? if you want to lower Ca in your tank, you should switch salt brands.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think that Cartman's question was what normally lowers the ca level in tanks. Certain corals use dissolved calcium in the water for life. Over time they will lower the level of calcium. Calcium is just like any other water solution, it can only hold so much. Once the level of calcium is too high to be dissolved it precipitates and then starts your problems. If you are going to use any calcium additive then get yourself a test kit and know the acceptable levels. But I am no expert, just going on what I have learned in chemistry and my own aquaria experience. Hopefully this was what you were looking for Cartman. Looking forward to seeing the shart at Bass Pro. I live not too far from there.

Here's your answer cartman, coutesy of a bottle of seachems reef carbonate:

Do not overdose:Excess alkalinity may enhance the loss of calcium, magnesium and strontium.
