PVC Questions

was the strenght of the material and bonding agent the only determining factor when deciding which material to use for the respective expected working pressures. white PVC = higher working temps and presurre then the black abs.

Pretty much, ABS isnt used for supply because it can not deal with the same pressures as PVC (or CPVC). There are some ABS devices (cups, storage containers, etc) that are rated for potable water, so its not an issue of contaminating the water. ABS is also cheaper than PVC is, at least in sizes over 2" in diameter. Most sewage/drain lines in the home are 4".

Black PVC is functionally exactly the same as white or brown PVC.

PVC is getting phased out in newer homes now, just like copper has, its being replaced with PEX.
