I want three of these guys in my 5 gallon with a betta. I've heard they like to be in big schools. Will 3 be two small of a school??

Well first, the 5 gallon would be to small to add the cories. They need to have room to move around and a 5 gallon just wouldn't offer that.

Yes, they do like to be in small groups. Many people say 3 is the minimum you should have but I always say to get at least 5 if there is room. They tend to be more active and seem much happier when in larger groups.

Right now for the size tank you have and with having the betta in it I would tell you not to add any other type of fish.
