Looking at buying this for my 29 gallon set up in my bedroom. However, the sink closest to the tank is just a standard bathroom faucet in my bathroom attached to my bedroom. Will this fit on that faucet? Also, I don't have gravel substrate I have a sandy-like one. I can't remember the name of it, it's at home, I'll post it when I get home from work. Not as fine as sand. Made more for saltwater I think. Will it just suck this stuff up? How do I keep fish from getting sucked up? Talked to one friend who says the suction isn't great enough to suck up my substrate or fish. Never used a gravel vac before...I'm also worried about taking water right out of the faucet and putting it into my tank during changes, shouldnt I treat the water with PRIME first? I've read instructions and people just treat the tank as soon as they're done filling to de-chlorinate. Also says that the "unit aerates water removing most chlorine"...

Just looking for some clarification. This unit is pretty pricey so I dont wanna spend the money and have it not work...any and all help would be greatly appreciated, thanks for helpin out a true NEWBIE.

it should fit most sinks, but you can always buy an adapter at your local hardware store. it will work for sand, i have sand in 2 of my tank. you just need to use the tube itself (i.e. not the piece that you push down into the gravel) you just hover it a bit above the sand to pick up the poo and whatever, but pick up as little sand as possible. you will get the hang of it quick. if one thing the python or the python knock offs (same thing different brand) work good for is refilling the tank. no more heavy messy buckets.

to add to your other questions... you should not be able to suck up a fish anyway, the suction is not that strong. if they can out pull a filter intake, they can the vac. plus for sand you use only the small tube anyway.
you dose the entire tank volume with prime just before you add the water back in. (i.e. if you have a 29G tank, you add 29-30G worth of prime. i think that each ridge in the cap of the prime bottle is 10G but read the back to be sure)

btw, we got our python knock off from wally world for 29.95 for a 25ft kit

I agree. As long as you have a standard sink or can get a connector, you should be fine. I just found that for my two upstairs tanks, it wasn't worth the trouble, since they are small, and river rock substrated I have a 25' one that I am looking to get rid of. If you are interested, PM me.

so this should work for me? i just need the right connector?

You have to look at the faucet and sink carefully. It is hard to find proper connector for some fancy faucet.
Some of the connectors are not appropriate for the regular daily usage. So, you may change the connector before and after WC. It is bit of pain too.
If your sink in the bathroom is not too deep, you may have overflow problem too.

If you have only one 29G tank and don't have plan to expand, you may consider standard gravel vacuum instead of phython type.
