Python Siphoning my patience only

So I unravel my new 50ft python, fill my new 75G (half) with water. Then I try to siphon the water out and nothing, I mean nada. I hook it to the faucet to drain it but the siphon just refuses to start, I had the water running for 1/2 hour and no siphon.

What am I doing wrong? I even tried the kitchen sink and nothing there either.

Help.......
 
Make sure all of the fittings are tight no chance of air getting in hope that helps
 
did you turn the switch back on on the handle? do you have the cold water turned all the way off? Did you twist the bottom down?

Heres a quick check list...

Hook the python to the sink and route it to the tank.

Turn the drain/fill valve to "fill".

Open the petcock. (Little white valve)

Send about a quart of water to the tank. Basically your filling the hose and pushing out the air.

Leaving the water running twist the drain/fill valve to the left about a half turn to drain. You should immediately get water in your sink and the syphon will start. Increase water pressure if necessary. I have 1,065 gallons in the house and I do 10% to 50% changes every week with my python. When I do the basement pond the python even has to defeat an 8 foot rise and it does it with ease.
