python stopped sucking!

Now I think I have it. Just get the suction going the old fashioned way, eh? One follow up - I do have a door to my deck very close to all of my tanks. What's the best way to get suction going? I can't imagine you could suck on the end of the hose and run back to tank????

Thanks for the suggestions - I will also check all of the parts for debris.

Run your hose to where you want the water to go. Close the valve. put the vac end in the tank and tip it up to fill it with water. Lift the vac end up and let the air from the hose bubble up and out the vac tube. Bring it back into the tank and let it fill back up. turn the vac end down to the gravel and turn on the valve. Water should now flow out of the tank.

If you have fast reactions you can simply fill the vac up with water and lift up until the flow starts but you have to be quick to bring the vac back down and fill it to keep air from getting in the hose.

check the venturi fitting.. the little thing actually unscrews, and that controls the velocity of the venturi. try screwing it all the way in, then unscrewing it about 3/4 to 1 turn. that should help out.

I just do it the old fashioned way...I do cup my hand around it so my mouth isnt directly on the end of the hose...Python hose is clear so you can see the water coming before you get a mouthful ;)

I'm not following you on that one. What do you mean don't bother with the piece for the vac/drain? I use the python/venturi attachment on my laundry sink drain. Do you mean don't use the vacuum on the front end??

I don't think there has been any change in water pressure in my house.

When I get home later I will check every connection and see if anything is stuck. I haven't looked in the part near the vac that has the on/off switch. I try to avoid sucking anything larger than fish poop into the tube, but who knows, there may be something stuck in there.

I meant I do not use the sink connection. Why waste water to get water out of the tank? I use the Python as a regular siphon hose for the tank vac and connect to the sink only for the refill.
