:help: I got home this afternoon, and my clown trigger was extremely pale, very stressed and would not eat, my friend thinks the reason is becuase of the salinity, i have my salinity at 1.012. i think its fine, but i dont think he will live the night. he is breathing hard, extremely pale, and spots all over. WHAT DO I DO.

have you tested the water? ammonia, nitrates, nitrites?

do 50% w.c quick then test. if ammonia is present, ill do another w.c depending how bad it is.

Marine fish can handle a salinity down to 1.009 if it is brought down gradually (they are acclimatised to it). Like horchata said what are the other water parameters, ammonia etc? Was the QT cycled. When you say 'spots all over' do you mean the fish has ich? To kill the ich with hyposalinity the salinity needs to go down to, and be stable at, 1.009 on the dot for at least 4 weeks.

this is what I would ask. my guess is your ammonia is high or the temp is low. also you should watch pH since it has the tendency to run low with salinity being low. What about temperature?

It's not the salinity. There are many people that don't know a thing about hyposalinity being a treatment for ich. You aren't being steered wrong with the hypo, I'm just hoping you read the liks provided to understand what all you should be diligent in checking for.
