Get plastic plants. You can attach them to the bottom with suckers or just let them float. Add some PVC pieces for hiding places. No gravel. If the QT is on a stand with an open bottom, consider painting the outside of the bottom of the tank black, so that the fish aren't looking down through a clear bottom.
The QT needs to be cycled before adding fish. Using filter material, an ornament, or a small bag of gravel from your main tank will accelerate the cycle. If the QT filter fits on your main tank (mine did not), run it on the main tank for several days to develop a bacterial colony, and then move it over to the QT.
