I have had my clowns in quarantine in a 10 gal for 4 weeks to treat ICH. I noticed that my fish were not as active and social so I tested the water and my Nitrite was at 1.0 and my ammonia was at .50. So I did a 50% water change with water from the display tank. I am considering putting them back into the display but they are being treated with copper and worry that using a net will cause them more stress. What Should I do?:help:

Where did you get the water for the QT? It could be a mini-cycle or it hasn't cycled at all. Having nitrite and ammonia is definatly not good to heal your clowns from ick.

The first time I filled my tank I used water from the display and this time too. They have been in there for 4 weeks can I put them back into the display tank?

I'm waiting for 6-8 weeks myself. I only used display water the first time and have used freshly made water on all other WCs which I do every 2-3 days.

Which copper product did you use? I used Coppersafe and 2 of the fish made it through marvelously. The clown didn't make it.

have you done any studying on the parasite aka ich?
you can't treat the ich when it is on the skin as you see the 'salt' like specks on the fish

it is treatable only in the freeswimming stage of the parasite..the cyst you see on the fish is te parasite buried under the skin of the fish ..the parasite is fedding off the fish..it ill drop off ater some time usually with in a week..where it will basically multiply(eggs) for several days..after that it will release the free swimmers that will look for a host.
the entire cucle can take 28 days..which is why the qt should last 4-6 weeks(with 6 weeks being the best )
if after the cyst drops off you could wait 4 weeks with no signs of infestation.

I used copper safe(chelated copper) it worked with chromis(7) and 2 tangs(scopas and hippo) I left the fish in the qt for 4 weeks after there were no signs of ich

Yes, I did a lot of studying, I learned a lot about it and talked to a lot of people about it. I used Cupramine to treat. I also did a freshwater soak for 5 mins before placing them in quarantine.

My question is really about the best way to get these fish back into my display tank, I don't want to use a net because of the stress it puts on the fish. I don't want the copper to get into my main tank because of the inverts. I'm thinking about using a neutralizer. What is the best way to get the fish back into the tank?

I planned on waiting 6-8 weeks but with the levels on Nitrite and ammonia being high even after a 50% water change, I think it might be better for the fish to go back into the display tank.

Also, Cupramine is suppose to be less toxic to fish the bottle says it is less toxic than chelates

I was doing 50% water changes daily..sometimes more.
but I felt it best to do this opposed to adding the fish to a reef tank(albeit new reef)
my fear was that I'd be introducing the fish to a tank where ich may till be present.
but you could try a drip acclimation ..net the fish and place them in the new tank.
if you hve been doing after changes and not re adding the cupramine back in ..it will have been dilluted.

my qt crashed( my fult) after 8 weeks(4 weeks no signs of ich)
I netted the fish from the qt inot tank water from the main tank ..then netted them from there to the main tank.
the main tank had no signs of ich for 8 weeks

I'd personally use a fine mesh net and do it quickly. Make sure the SG is the same first. Some have used their hands saying it less stressful.

Personally, I'd find a way to stablize the hospital tank even if it means daily water changes so that your display has had at least 6 weeks of being fallow. It will be more stressful for you and the fish if they only get ich right away again.
