Query regarding Flourite

I am wanting to promote plant growth in my tank . . . 55 gals and already moderately planted with Amazon Sword, Cabomba and Vallis . . . is it possible to just add Flourite to the tank . . i.e drop it in on top of the existing gravel and 'sort of poke it in' as I do not want to have to break the tank down and start all over again.

You could add it right over top of the other stuff(don't worry about mixing it in), but you'll have a mess unless you put the fish and plants in buckets, drain the tank and lay in the washed Flourite. Then re-fill slowly, re-plant, and add back the fish.

I think a mess is an Understatement. Try very muddy water ;)
