I was wondering how big angelfish are when they pair off. I have 4 marbled angels that are about the size of a quarter (not including fins).
I just put them in the community tank from quarrentine where they have done very well. They are really sticking together, and tend to follow the leader. So cute!

You should have awhile yet but not sure how large they will get before they do. KYle

Mine started wanting to pair off when the biggest was about 3" , maybe mine were odd, but I had them in a community tank and came home from work to find 2 dead clown loaches (3-4"), a dead serpae tetra, and everybody else crowded behind a peice of driftwood. I had fed them before leaving for work and everything was normal with everybody getting along. I seperated them immediately and found a new home for them, so that's all I know.

Yikes, I have 3 clown loaches and a couple of mollies with them. I heard they can get a bit territorial but haven't heard to much about that kind of extreme behavior. What size tank did you have?

Angels are mature enough to pair off when they are about the size of a dollar coin, maybe a tad larger. But I'm sure not every fish does at that point and it might take longer for them to get interested.

I had them in a 50 gallon tank. They are a beautiful fish and fun to feed cause they're chowhounds. Better suited to a tall tank. Just be aware of what can happen and how little warning you may get.
