Question about AP liquid tests

I have always done it like I posted above...the way API says too.

I just make sure the room is well lit or I even go over to a window or door to get some good light if I need to.

Against the card for real. I got to a well light room though. I think against the card is best because even if it is darker than it should be that is all the more reason to do it, because if the color is that little of a difference it is still time to do a change.

WOW! My colors are TOTALLY different if I hold them against the card. The tube is in a seemingly VERY dark shadow if its against the card....window or not. I'm a newb but I will have to agree 100% with Cheizy. Let some light in.

Finally got a reply from AP.

Thank you very much for contacting us regarding our products. All of your comments and questions are valuable. We use your feedback to create the most effective line of aquarium and pond products available.

Sorry for the delay, we are extremely backed up and I have been recently hired to help answer questions so I apologize for the delay. Laurie that is not a stupid question at all. If you do not hold the test tube directly against the white background you will get a reading that is slightly lower and incorrect. For a proper reading you will want to hold it right against the white background. Sorry again for the delay.

If you have any other questions or wish to discuss this further, please email back or give us a call at 1-800-847-0659.

Thanks for the update.....

Glad to see I have been doing mine right ;)

Thanks Laurie for that confirmation! I'm happy to admit that I was wrong! Guess I better do a water change.
