Question about diatom filters

Does diatom filtration like you would get from a vortex d1 filter remove tanins from driftwood? I know carbon will remove tanins.

It will...slightly. Your water will still be strongly colored, but you'll notice just a little difference.


Best wayto remove tannins is to use purigen or activated carbon, and water changes.

Alternatively, learn to love it. The colors of many fish are at their fullest when tannin levels are high.

Werd to what he said. Carbon does a good job if you use good carbon and replace every 10 days. Also water changes help obviously.
