If I dose excel at lower level than suggested, will it still be beneficial to my plants and will it still melt vals? I have a lot of Jungle Vals and I don't want to melt them off, but I also have other plants that would benefit greatly from the excel. Any help from the pro's would be appreciated. Thanks.

Agreed -
"Yes", and "No"

I too dose quite a bit of Excel daily in my 46g tank and have yet to harm my Jungle Vals. If you were to use suggested or lower levels, I would expect at least some other Vals to be OK with it.

I dose excel at the recommended levels everyday and my vals have never melted. I have had many kinds and always get rid of them as they grow too fast. I can pull the extra vals and leave them in a tub outside in the winter and they are still living in the spring!! Too much excel and anything will die!!

I find Excel to be a waste of time compared to the results of Yeast Co2, probably depends on the lighting that is used in the tank though..
Yeast Co2 is more of a hassle.
