Question about filter sponges

Could someone please, if you get achance, post a picture of these filter sponges you are always talking about? I'm not sure I am picturing the right thing. (nNot a sponge filter, but the sponge u can cut and put into an HOB, i think... :laugh: )
I would greatly appreciate it!
Also, is floss a decent biofilter medium? or is it mainly just for mechanical.

Floss is more of a mechanical media, but will also store bacteria.

All filter medias will store some amount of bacteria, but the ones that are more porous and have more surface area will have more, like bioballs or something. Floss is used mainly for mechanical fiteration.

The sponge material I use I got at my LFS -- it was just a big, rectangular piece of blue sponge (two different colors.. different size sponge material put together) that I cut to fit my filters. Very inexpensive and will last forever.
