Question about fry tank

HI,
I have a 10 gallon tank set up for some Peacock Fry. I put a penguin 125 bio wheel on the tank that was running for about a month on my 55. Now I have 8 Peacock fry in the 10 gallon in a breeder net for now. I am wondering... Since there is such a small bio load on the filter compared to what it was at, will all the bene. bacteria die off? Should I put some other type of fish in there to keep it from dying off? What do you all do with your fry tanks? Thanks for any suggestions you can give?

the bio filter will only stay as large as the load that is in the tank. so yes it will die off partially but there will be enough to house the fry in. I dont really see a need to put other fish in there just for the bio load

You may also want to consider getting an Airpowered sponge filter, put the sponge behind the material in the current filter to get it established with bacteria. That way by running the sponge filter, you will eliminate the risk of the fry swimming into the suction of the penguin filter, because you won't need to use it. Sponge filters are the best for fry tanks.
