question about GH

All right I didn't took it personaly, I thought the information was corect and I wanted to share it with you, but as I can see there were already info about this and because I'm new to aquariacentral a didn,t came across them.
Again I'm sorry, I didn't want to missconcept anyone, appologize to
RTR and daveedka, the text had it about 1 year and didn't read it too carefuly and for that I'm very sorry. RTR for the legal matter, the texts copied from the web can be used in any FORUM section because they are not a public web sites
it is same as posting a link. The whole idea of forums is that people exchange expierences and every thing just like frends talk. This is not the same as publishing it on a private web site pretending that the person wrote it. What will become of the World if during the talking with friends for every oppinion we ask for permision or have you ever quotet some philosof or writer and have permision from them( the great ones are dead) :) :) :)

Very incorrect. They have a published legal disclaimer forbidding you to do this:

http://www.chelonia.org/legal.htm

If they wanted to get piggy about it, they could even sue you for posting that information.

adzigogov - I promise you that if you post anything without my permission that I have web-published and without citing the original author (me) and the original source (were published) that I will sue, and that I will win. You may or may not pay, but the judgement against you will be there until resolved. Your misunderstanding of legal matters does not excuse you from the violation, especially so when the site in question in this case has a specific warning against such copying.

OK I see that the people here are very hostile, For posting a information that should be general knowledge, and sad it wasn't mine for that I take the blame but I didn't understand was it RTR's text (that's way he is so hostile) or what.
Probably people have very much disconception about applying information laws and they think they can sue about anything for that to be clear I am not an American I'm Macedonian in my country Macedonia the same laws and rules don't apply as in the States (general knowledge) and for a for that mater I'm not scared. Probably I'm not gona spend my life searching for RTR published texts so cheer up man have a Mary Christmass and Happy New Year. I wish to congratulate ROAN ART for being very objective you are my new buddy :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY

PS. with this i want to close this thread that went from helping somebody to lawsuits :)

Stick around. You'll find that people on this forum are far from hostile and generally good humored and very friendly. A great bunch of folks, but aggressive when it comes to misinformation because so much effort is put into trying to lay that kind of stuff to rest.

It must be soul destroying when someone publishes their work only to find it splattered across the web with no credit given where credit is due.

I can only speak for myself when I say, dam* right it is. I've had it happen TOO often. Not only my written work but my graphical work as well. And with no credit given! That's the worst part.

It's one thing to post or publish something and cite a reference et al, but quite another when you publish and do not cite the source.

That little rant was not directed at you, John, sorry if it sounded that way.

Let's get something else cleared up, and then close this off at the pass.

Copying and pasting text from ANY source is not the same as providing a link. Linking to an article allows everyone to see who the author is, as well as any relevant references. C&P gives the appearance that the text or image is yours, and yours alone, particularly if you do not specify a source.

As for laws--regretfully, ignorance is no excuse, and nor is your residence/location. If you come to the States and break any other law, you can still be held accountable. If I come to Macedonia, and violate your laws, my American citizenship won't provide exemption.

So one is trying to be nasty about this. It's just a simple matter of respecting publishers and authors, and following the law (which is part of the TOS). IMO, anything that is posted here is fair game for review--and correction by the members. It's not targeted at any group--I've been corrected a number of times, and try to accept it with grace. Insisting that you are within your 'rights', or not accountable for misinformation you post will result in some grumpiness--defending a problem usually does.
