Question about Ich

yeah that is normal.. i've dealt with it before many times.. and slapp mcfish is right.. i always, always just use the method of turning up the heat and adding aquarium salt.. i've never used meds on anything ever.. u might still lose the fish which is indead very sad.. but killing off that nasty ich so others arent infected is the main goal

Well, I did turn the heat up to around 85 or 86 one night (slowly of course) and in the morning he was so lethargic. He would swim a little, then immediately float to the bottom and act as though he was sleeping, tilting side to side with the current, and then swim and repeat. I felt uncomfortable at that point so I turned it back down to about 82 just to speed the cycle up.

I am still using aquarium salt with water changes (a little extra too), 82 degrees F, air pump, and QuICK Cure with the light off.

What do you guys think about QuICK Cure, would using these meds do more harm than good in the long run?

I've used it in the past with very good results. When used as directed, it should be perfectly safe to use long term.

Alright guys. I'll keep up what I am doing then. I know the ingredients are classified as carcinogens, but I assume it's scaled to the appropriate dosage to do no harm. Should I expect a couple weeks? I have at the temperature at at least 80 degrees F and they haven't been falling off of him, it's been at least 48 hours, probably closer to 72 hours, I haven't recorded what I have been doing.

So, I have been keeping the light off. He seems to be losing the intensity of his white spots, but there are still plenty there. Heat still at 82 F, Salt in the water, water changes (testing before) and then applying QuICK Cure.

He has been sleeping inside his sunken ship a LOTTT. I have been turning the light on and agitating him enough to get up and swim around for a little while and eat some food. Should I keep the light on on a regular schedule so he isn't being such a bum and sleeping all the time? After a short while with the light on he goes back to his ship-quarters and sleeps. He will also swim around for a little then lay on the rocks, then get back to swimming and ultimately go to the ship.
