Question about khuli loaches

Most loaches are rarely, if ever, bred commercially & only accidentally in home tanks. They are almost all wild caught, although some like y. sidthimunki are bred using hormones. Not pangios (kuhlis) AFAIK, they are wild fish.

Not what I read or I wouldn't have bought them myself. Only kuhlis I dunno about the others.

As far as I know, Pangio kuhlii, Pangio semicincta and Pangio oblonga are the few ones bred so far without the aid of hormones.

another question: how much do kuhlis usually go for? I know that price varies from store to store, but what did you pay for them? I didn't want to start a new post since this is the same topic.

Can't help with the price, from a different country, but they really are fun fish to have. they are nocturnal but mine play all day long. they don't need sand although they prefer it, i have gravel and they are fine. if you want to see your khuli's as much as possible ensure that there are many hiding places so that they feel secure that they can hide if they want to.

they are not fussy with their water conditions as they are scavengers, i feed mine sinking algae tablets and they love it, for more info you can go to loaches.com, they have lots of useful info.

I have a couple of Kuhli's in with red tail shark who seems to chase everything and they just stay down on the base of a big bunch of plants, luckly in the corner so you can see them. So IF you have spots that the Kuhli's can get into and the other fish can't you should be good to go.

Depends on Law of Supply and Demand. I get them cheap though.;)

They have been bred occaisionally in home aquaria, not commercially. The pangios we see for sale in stores are wild caught. Check loaches.com, breeding is rare & accidental.

Interestingly, googling I found mention of an introduced Florida population of p. kuhlis.
