question about lights

I have done lighting before but never cfl this is new to me. I understand the wiring side of it but not the required components. But much to my se prise I can get the job done for a tenner which is nice. I have the lights on a timer so no issue not having the switch. I can just use the existing light to light the tank for any little work

this looks like the end cap is part of the ballast?

Hmmm... That sounds a bit unusual to me, but I'm on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. From the pic in the listing, I can't really tell one way or the other.
