Question about my cycle

I've been cycling for a while now and my results were:
Ammonia, 1 ppm
Nitrite, 0
Nitrate, 5 ppm

Problem is, i've been in a nitrite spike so why hasnt ammonia gone away yet?

1ppm is quite high for ammonia i would do a water change asap

If you are doing a fish in (fishy cycle), Do a water change to keep ammonia under .25 ppm, failure to do this can results in permenant damage to your fish!

it takes time for all the bacteria to catch up. as others have said do a water change of this is a fish cycle. if this is fishles cycle keep adding ammonia.
