I have decided to start a 2nd (new) tank. Thinking 75 gallons or so? My very, very old 46 gal bow front worries me. So, before it blows- I can take my time in getting the replacement up and running. Can any of you very nice experienced people recommend any particular products. I have chosen the spot. ( 5' in length). My current bow front is 21 inches tall. I am samll and can NOT reach the botton of the tank to clean the glass! I have had to use stool -what a pain! Hoping to find a new tank that is longer / and not as tall. Thanks

glasscages.com sells a 70gal wide that is 4'x24"widex13"tall, that might be an option if you're looking for a shorter tank. If you really want a 5' long tank, most the ones I've seen are at least 21-24" tall, so you might have something built to a certain spec. Glasscages will do custom glass and acrylic tanks.

As sploke said! I have no personal experience with them but I heard only good about www.glasscages.com, Oceanic also makes an excellent tank! A 70 Gallon wide would be nice ! I'll take one too...lol

Pick up a cleaning brush, they sell them at petsmart for like $5, they come in different lengths and work great for those hard to reach bottoms of glass. I'm a shorter person myself, and i got a 2 foot tank brush for cleaning the glass inside the tank.
I have a newly built 3 foot deep tank that's on a 3 foot tall stand. I feel your pain - if I get up on a ladder and get my arm into the tank past the shoulder, I can clumsily move stuff around the bottom with my fingertips. Any real aquascaping requires a swimsuit and a bath!

Yikes! I broke down my 46 gal bow-front on Tues ( the 17th) - removed the glass substrate that I hated ( and so did my 3 clown loach!) - replaced it w/ black sand. It took me from 1pm - 7pm. I changed the location of the tank, saved all but about 8-10 gallons of the tank water. My poor fish quietly waited in 4- 3 gallons containers in my living room. I have a fluval 404, and when I went to hook the filter back up - the handle of the self primer broke off in my hand! Thank goodness I had a replacement! The glass substrate layer was very thin - so , so-far-so-good. I think? I have tested everything-ie including 3x today. My fish seem calm. Any suggestions as I move forward?

I ordered a 135gal tank from glasscages a few months ago and I have to say they are a great company. first the lady I talked to on the phone was awesome she put up with me calling back several times changing my mind on overflows (so many times that she just didn’t charge my credit card until just before they closed).
Second, the shipping was a bit strange, I had to meet them at a truck stop but it actually turned out to be a pretty neat experience. A whole bunch of us from about a 300mile radius slowly met in the restraunt at the flying-J truck stop (great buffet). It turned out to be a really cool experience to meet new people that like tanks. When the truck got there the guy helped put it into my truck.
After I got home and looked at the tank I realized that it is constructed like a tank (the armored type
) all kinds of extra bracing.
Anyways back to the point, glasscages is a great company.
