Question About Pre-Packaged Plants...

I have gotten potted plants from Petco that were good if you already know plants. The generic unlabeled swords & crypts I got were a good value. The tubes are not kept under lights so even the few aquatics are often in rough shape.

ive gotten decent plants at petco and petsmart. the hornwort and wisteria i have were from there and theyve lasted 2-3 years and are still growing strong. ive tried the tube plants, but not knowing anything when i got them, i got terrestrial plants that died very quickly. the trick to anything with aquariums, including plants, is to research first and ask lots of questions to someone other than the person selling the stuff to you. there are plenty of plant packages that you can try that are designed to look nice and be easy to grow. if you are concerned with snails, there are simple ways to keep the populations down such as not overfeeding and simple bait methods that allow you to remove dozens at a time if need be
