I got an Kent Maxxima Hi-S RO/DI filter with the setup i bought from a person. I hooked it up and tested to see if it worked. What I am getting is alot of waste water and the filtered water barely trickles out. It won't trickle out if the tube is above the filter system. Am I supposed to have the filtered water line be lower than the filter system and is the output supposed to be so little?

Are u sure the lines are hooked up right? I have the same system and the height of the filtered water line has no effect on it's output. Mine will fill a gallon milk jug in 20-25 minutes.

I have a bare bones system (no DI unit) and when I first got it, I had the same problem. It turns out my RO membrane was bad and needed replacing. I know that those can get clogged (they sell a washout kit) and that they can go bad if allowed to dry out. If the unit you bought hadn't been used in a while I would suspect the latter.

Yeah the lines are hookd up correctly. Maybe I need to change out the filters?

Try changing the sediment and carbon filters first as they are cheaper. I think the ones at Home Depot are the same. The DI filter from the LFS was kinda pricey. I paid $40 for the DI.

Yeah maybe the membrane did go bad. It was sitting in his garage for awhile, but there was still water in each of the canisters.

Don't want to sound too noob but is the membrane canister the one on the left in pic below?

I have the same system. Mine is a 35g/day unit. I bought it new and it does not fill too fast. It says it will take some time to get full production from it and I have only made about 60 gals with it. Maybe I should try 1 gal jug just to see how long it takes.

I think my membrane went bad. It was sitting in the guy's garage that I got it from for a few months i believe.

The output from the system drips sporadically if any.

I will try and hook it up and see how long it takes to fill a gallon as well. I will let you guys know.

Thanks for everybody's help.
