Ok recently in the past 2 weeks i have noticed salt collecting at the bottom rim.Should we be concerned that the bottom of the tank is leaking ?
Our guess is its falling from the top ,but it looks pretty stuck when i rub it .
Any ideas?
We are thinking we may need to plan for a new ...grrr
Thanks

I wouldnt worry to much. Same thing would happen to all my SW tanks and none had leaks. Saltcreep really does get hard.

The guru at my LFS was telling me a story the other day that would make me a little afraid if I were you.

He has a client who's tank he has been caring for for 15 years. They called a few days ago in a panic because they had heard an explosion and the tank had completely drained out. When he arrived he found that the tempered glass bottom of the tank had completely shattered for no apparent reason at all. This had caused a veritable tsunami of water (this was a 225g tank) which covered the entire room, including the furniture and lower half of the walls. The client was only able to save one beautiful 3 foot long yellow and black eel (not sure of the type, he said it was worth about $700 he had it in a tank at the shop). Everything else died.

So that said, I would check for sure ;)

well its gonna take about a month b4 i get the other tank .
We will put all livestock in the other tank and rubbermaid the LR ,empty and check it out ,it is a used tank so you never know ,i just dont want to loose livestock .
