Is the kind of putty that has a blue or green outside and a white inside safe for fish? The kind of putty that you mix up and it turns super hard and can bind anything together.
The reason why is I broke a terra cotta pot I wanted to use and the only thing around was that putty.

I've used epoxy plumbing putty to fix a small leak inside my tank. Its inside a dry overflow though, so its not in constant contact with the water. I was sure to use a putty that said "safe for potable water".

No idea...a brand name would help, then you could look up the MSDS and see if it looked safe. If in doubt, get some aquarium silicone/GE silicone I for windows and doors.

terra cotta is plenty porous, the silicone should stick to it fine.

crap, I already put it on a while ago and it's already stuck. I don't know the brand of it, but it is blue on the outside and smells like an old bathroom after it's mixed in.

EDIT: I saw something like it on Dr. F&S that says its nontoxic and it looks exactly like mine except theirs has a green exterior.
