are you referring to marine tanks?
in those the water needs to be premixed to the right specific gravity, pH etc.
so the python can be used to remove wate but not to fill . this is done via bucket brigade or thru a pump system with premix.
luckily on a properly set up marine tank you only do about 10% wc per week.
