question about water conditioners

i use the cheapest stuff they have at walmart. Wardleys. doesn't treat ammonia, but my biofilter gets rid of ammonia from Chloramines in about an hour.

do you guys use cycle as well?

Not a joke but laugh all you want

Amquel can have some negative effects in soft water - which is why they had to come up with variation on the theme. Prime is simpler and cheaper and no pronlems have been reported, so I no longer suggest Amquel for general advice/use.

What negative effects of Amquel to soft water are there? i've used Amquel for 5 years with PH at 6.4 (maybe lower, my test kit won't read anything that low), and no problem. i have a 240 gallon with 4 silver aros, 1 black, 1 rtg, 2 green severums, 1 gold severum, 2 uarus, 1 blood parrot, 1 juruense catfish.

There's not much faith held in Cycle around here. The general consensus seems to be that its snakeoil.

Biospira has a good reputation.
