Question about working with glass.

So i have been cutting glass today to make a top for my 35g. All the glass i need is now cut but i was wanting to know how to polish the edges. I was thinking of using an abrasive but is there a special sort of abrasive for polishing glass. Sorry for the questions but this is the first time i have ever worked with glass.

Yes. Any hardware store, or even craft srore, that sell tools for cutting glass, will also sell abrasives for polishing the cut edges.

Sand paper, start at about 100 grit and and work your way up til your satified. If your going to use a power tool rest the glass on a flat surface so that only the edge your on hangs off. Use a mask glass dust suxks.

Ok i have a new question, how long should i wait before putting water in?

depends on what you used... how long does the package say it takes to cure? most stuff is 24-48 hours

I have already read the tube of silicone and there was no mention of any cure times.

for a tank that small i would wait 24 hrs at least

O' darn, the covers i cut for 35g fit to well. They fit on the tank well but don't come off again because they fit to tightly.
