I am putting together a heavily planted 150 with Discuss and a couple of schoolers (likely cardinals and rummies).

My questions are:

Would I be better off with 2 Eheim 2250 / 2260s or 3 2217s??

Is one easier to setup / prime / maintain than the others?

The 2217s come with stacked media, with the 2250 / 2260 media is not included (correct?).

Is buying / stacking media in the 2250 / 2260 a big deal?

What media and stack setup would you suggest?

Thanks for your help ... all input is appreciated!

if youre looking for ease of use, the Pro II eheim filters are quite excellent.

i would personally go with the 3 2217s, for consistency and interchangeability.

the classic series is a workhorse, sometimes simplicity is the best way to go. Priming them is the only issue that i hear people complain about if any at all with the 2217, which if you dont use carbon, you can get away with changing the media once a month if you want although certain media can last longer depending on what you use.

???

i used the same media in my eheim canisters for 5 years.

thats what i mean, i am kind of a clean freak, haha. For me, i like carbon alot, not the pads though, the actual carbon chunks, its purifying capabilities are great, even though alot of people tend to knock it. Its all preference though in the end.
