I have one of my four neon tetras beginning to lose color in the red area of its tail- its just faded out like someone took some cleaner and washed one small area. The others are fine, its not ick, and I clean the tank regularly. Any ideas or do you need more detail? Thanks!

Hmm, I would quarentine him immediatly. It almost sounds like the onset of Neon Tetra disease which is highly contagious and I don't think there are any successful treatments.

It could also be an injury caused by the neons bickering amongst themselves, so I would treat your q-tank with melafix and 1tblsp of table salt per 10g.

I agree with Puma. In fact, neons are very prone to diseases and such. It is usually recommended that if people like these fish, yet are unsuccessful in keeping them that they switch to Cardinal tetras. They seem more hardy.

Unfortunately theses days it is likely to be either NTD (Neon Tetra Disease) or fish TB (an acid-fast bacillus). Neither is treatable or curable. As PumaWard said, isolate/QT the symptomatic fish immediately, and if condition worsens, sacrifice it.
