Question on Cycling.

i just did my water change and vaccumed substrate. i tested it right before and it was 2.0 :( can i test in a little while or should i wait till tomorrow?

ok just tested my tap nitrate was 20 nitrite was 0. so whats that mean? but even the 20 possibly can be a 0. the color is sooooo close.

I know this sucks and that it's tiring and backbreaking. Just keep thinking about the fact that most people never have to cycle a tank again once they have one up and running.

Not entirely true. You can also acquire what is known as "Old Tank Syndrome". However, if you are OC about your water changes and the amount fed, it will help prevent that. Failing to maintain your water properly is just as bad as having an un-cycled tank and almost backs you up to re-starting a cycle.

Nitrate is good. Have you added an air pump of some fashion? Air pumps will help the water to off-gas better allowing for better oxygen exchange as it also creates a larger water surface area

ok well SOME good news..i just checked the tank and the ammonia is back down to 1.0. tomorrow i will do another huge change and a gravel vaccum. sound good?
