I recently set up an 80 gallon reef tank. I have no corals and just a little bit of coraline algae so far. I put in a couple of live rocks and am waiting for it to spread to my nice base rock. I have no macro algae that would use calcium.
No fish yet, just hermits and snails.
Ammonia = 0
Nitrites = 0
Nitrates = undetected
Ph = 8.2
SG = 1.025
Alkalinity = 4.5
Calcium = 380
Here's my problem: I started using the Kent two-part Calc./Alk. liquid. But as I've used it, the Alkalinity has gone up, but the Calcium always stays at 380. When alkalinity hit 4.5, I quit using that part of the Kent AB. I've just been using the Calcium part. But things stay the same.
What should I do? Dose calcium more heavily? Add magnesium? I've heard 380 is o.k. for Calcium, but I'd like to get it to 450 so it's more in line with where my alkalinity is. Plus, I want to push my coraline algae a little fast.
What should I do?
