i noticed this afternoon that my leather hasn't opened up to today.. is this normal.. for them to do this once in a while.. there are a few tenticales out but he is all closed at the top.. Any help would be appreciated thanks.
Also i seem to have alot of dark purple almost look like feather dusters in the tank.. ARe these good or bad..

Is this a leather or an anenome? Different animals...

For either, closing up every now and then isn't too unusual. They may be digesting food, or there may be a change in the tank that makes them unhappy. If everything tests normal, give it a day or two. For leathers, they will sulk if there is a change in water conditions. Some will sulk for several weeks, and may slough off a thick slime layer, then be happy as can be. Monitor it--if there is a darkening and it starts shrinking, it means something is really wrong and it might be dying.

There are many different tube worms that are normal and neither good or bad, just there. They tend to run in cycles in my bigger system--tons of them for a month or two, then very few, then a ton again. The bigger ones are more stable, seldom dying back.

I was told it was a leather but i thought it was still an aneome.. it is almost a foot high if not more and about 4- 5 inches in diameter.
