in your house!!
my brother has a red zebra mbuna he calls mr. peepers(long story dont ask plz). anyways he wants to get rid of it so he can breed bettas(i havent let him because he doesnt know what to do with the babies).; i was thinking mabye try the zebra with my 30 planted or would that just be a problem waiting to happen? the fish is fully acclimated to my water conditions to(captive bred got from a person who breeds them)

some problems with this idea...

1- He will eat ALL your plants in about a week... what he doesnt eat he will re-arrange to his liking

2- Tank is too small for cichlids of that sort... might be ok since its just the 1 fish-- but I never reccomend keeping mbuna alone

3- they need rockwork to be happy for the most part

you could make it work.. but he isnt gonna thrive there, and he may not be happy... also- your plants WILL pay the price

Yeah 7itanium i was thinking the same thing i was waiting to see a response but you are correct if it is to be alone it will live a miserable life they appreciate others to feel comfortable and love the added rock formations to feel secure and a 30gal doesn't offer that..

I saw what you have in your 30gal. Please, don't put the zebra in there! It will be a real terror for those fishes and plants.

I have to agree with all the above statements! Not a good plan

ok thought i would check. BTW the fish has always been alone he's always lived by self. he got beat up and lost his tail when i first got him and then reintroduced him back when it healed but he didnt fit he was always getting bullied so i just gave him to my brother

You could probably find someone here on AC who would take him...Or take him back to the LFS. OR if you're willing to spend some cash you could always buy another tank and put him in it; whether you think he's better by himself or with other africans.

ehh forget the lfs they dont carry mbuna, got him from a breeder. i was hopin to find a 55 and possibly make mbuna tank in the future so i think ill hold on to him
