I have a 55gal it has...... 1 Spotted Raphael Catfish, 1 Red Tail Shark, 2 Clown Loaches, 1 Common Pleco, 2 Male Black Convicts, 1 Jack Dempsey, 1 Firemouth, 1 Turquoise Severum. ( All roughly same size, Except Pleco, He's 9 inchs)
I had just added the Severum yesterday and it seems none of the other cichlids like it to much, 4 on 1 is not a fair fight. Firemouth is the smallest but seems to be the most aggressive toward it. Should i remove him into my new 29 gallon when it gets setup? Do you think things will settle down?

Filtration: Fluval 305 Canister, 1 sponge filter
Heater : 250W

Whenever you are adding a new fish, it is always best to rearrange your landscape a bit so as to rearrange existing territories. Try taking them ALL out, rearrange the tank and add them all together again, thereby no one is the new fish coming into an existing "neighborhood" so to speak.

I did move my decor around, did not remove all fish when i did that though. Yes nipping, ramming, cornering its all going on, only toward the severum. Maybe ill have to cycle that 29gal tank quicker then i thought. Wish they would get along kinda wanted the 29gal to start an bw setup. A Severum will be ok in a 29gal? Would i be able to add anything else?

I would prefer the removal of your aggressive cichlids and keep the severum and the rest of the bottom dwellers with the exception of common plec and clown loaches (there are plenty other options but should not be mixed with aggresive cichlids).

Just my two cents.;)

What if i took severum out and put him in the 29gal? Can i add the clown loaches with the severum? Can i put any other cichlids with them in the 29gal. Going to make it a sandy bottom. Need a few tips with decorations.

You can put a severum there but I prefer a larger tank be put in store for it to live happily. Clown loaches will not be quite happy with the limited space given by a 29 gallons. They are best kept in large tanks in a minimum number of 3 which tanks 55 gallons and smaller cannot accomplish long-term.

I put the loaches in my 45 gal tall community tank. Barbs, tetras, platies, corys, red tail, pleco. They seem to like it in there. Took the red tails house right of way, lol. Severum is going in the 29gal with a few more fish. Looking for a 100+gal, will relocate when i find one cheap enough. What else can go with him in there for now. I made it sand bottom its setup and almost ready to rock. Decor ideas, fish ideas, would be hlpful. I do have test kit(s). Things have seem to settle down a bit in the 55gal but still want to move him.
