Questions about Ich and treatment, Please Help!

Thanks for the replies. Jeta I have had an air stone in the tank since I started treatment and have lower the water level to create extra splash, but thanks for the reminder.

So here is an update: I have now lost two of my cardinal tetras and the remaining three do not look very good. The ram continues to swim up and down the tank and the cories are still flashing once in a while on the sand. I still can not see any white spots on the ram or the cories though.

Test the water with the liquid api test kit this morning after finding the dead tetras and my parameters where as follows:
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 10
pH 7.2-7.0

Should I increase the salt concentration to 2tsp per gallon? I am worried that 2tsp/gallon will be to much for the cories and the ram, but as it is right now I don't see the 1tsp gallon working. I know it has been said on here that Ich gets worse before it gets better, but now my fish are dying and the Ich is still spreading to my cories. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Not uncommon in them, by the time you see the ich, start treatment, they are all but lost.....

Thanks for the reply Bob, I can deal with losing the cardinals, but I would really like to save my cories and the ram if possible. Do you think raising the salt concentration to 2tsp per gallon would help or would it me too much for the cories and the ram.

is there any way you can get the temp up to about 86? It will actually kill the ICH at that level, most of the time. It only needs to be elevated like this for a few weeks.

I can try with my current heater, but I think I may have to buy a better one. Would that temperature have any ill effects on the cories? Thanks for your help.

Here is an update. On Feb. 20th I lost my last three of my remaining cardinal tetras. I actually had to euthanize the last two because they were doing really poorly and were getting picked on by the ram. They were still covered with what looked like white spots when in the tank, but when I removed them I could not see any white spots, only some battered fins. Is this normal with Ich? Is it not visible when the fish is out of the water?

On Feb. 21st I decided to add Ich Attack by kordon, so I did a 50% water change and treated with the recommended dose of Ich Attack as per the bottle and got the temperature up to 84 degrees as suggested. I Also started feeding my remaining cories and the ram New Life Spectrum Thera-A the non-medicated antiparasitic food. So far things are looking good; I have not noticed anymore flashing, white spots, labored breathing or other abnormal behavior and all my fish are eating very well. I am going to continue treatment for at least another ten days.

Thanks everyone for the help!!
