It's day five of my marine tank. It's a 55 gal. with wet/dry trickle. small powerhead, orbit 48" light system, 60lbs. of live sand, not sure the weight but "dead" live rock, 15lbs of live rock and some lime stone from my old cichlid aquarium. (see pic, I assume i should get somemore Live Rock?)
But anyway my question is that i see something inside the large live rock but im new at this so im not sure if its coral growth(species?) or its just some sort of debris. I was hoping somebody could clear this up for me or give some advice for the aquarium(what it needs). Thanks guys!

Could well be some coralline algae.

I'd ditch to wet/dry filter as well if you eventually plan on a reef.

The second pic seems to resemble a coral.

The one in the third pic loks like a feather duster, a benificial creature to have.

thanks for the help guys, Suggestions would greatly be appreciated. I talked to my friend whom works at the LFS, he thought my tank is ready for a damsel or something of that nature. so yesterday after the post i went down the the LFS, talked to the workers there (AKA salesmen) they thought its ready for stocking. I was worried about torturing the fish so I went with 2 yellow tail demsels for 3.99 each. wells its been 24 hours now and they seem happy as ever! they've been chasing food all around the tank.

ive found about five things that look like the bottom picture. there purple with white dots on them.

Those yellow tail damsels will eventually be the aggressors in your tank.

I have a blue damsel, and it was the last addition, and a model citizen. Until I added two small green chromis (I already had one big one). The damsel chases the small chromis regularly.

Also, I have the same type thing on the bottom of a rock in my tank.

Strange update

it's been about two weeks now and the object in the third picture(purple thing). I noticed something large, and white. as soon as I turned on the light to see it it started booking it back into the rock. I was shocked, it took about twenty seconds two move about an inch so maybe a snail i figured? it kind of looked like a shell. on the other hand i've got quite alot of algae growth going on now. it's brown looks kinda bad should i leave it there, or do something about it?

Half the fun of a new s.w. tank are all the critters that come climbing out of the live rock. Over the following months you'll run into all sorts of critters if you can catch a pic it would really help to identify some of the critters. One trick you can use is shine a flash light through red plastic or get one with a red lense . A lot of the critters in your tank aren't able to see a red light you'll be amazed at what you see at lights out.
I hope you don't have problems with the damnsels as the other poster mentioned they tend to be aggresive and if you want inverts they are a real no-no and if you do change your mind about them good luck catching them.

Well keep you ca levels up and it should spread out . There are also some products out there that will help it grow. You can also take a soft bristled tooth brush and gently rub it on algae colonies. Turn off your filter for a couple of hours after to allow it time to settle down. As an alternant can also break of bit of the l.r. with the coraline your after and tooth pick them to another rock etc. If your water is right though it will happen anyway with time.
