I have lowered my pH useing RO and an alternative well. My pH is now around 6.8 but my kh and gh are still very high....both around 300 ppm. What does this mean concerning cardinal tetras?? how can this be lowered?

Are you trying to breed them?

no...I'm getting them from the guy i am buying my new tank from....He was a discus breeder and these tetras are very used to soft acidic water. I have to acclimate them to my water some how....there are 18 of them in the 29 gallon and they have been established for years. I'm trying to do my best but the fish are coming tonight and thats the best i can do for them unless you have a suggestion.

Yes, acclimate them to your water slowly. Use the drip method. TKOS details it in this thread about German Blue Rams known to be sensitive to water changes and qualiy in general.
