Now i know that CO2 is not necessary to maintain plants and i also know that the right substrate is necessary along with the right lighting etc.

But, what i don't know is whether or not i should keep my existing airhose/rock in the tank once i put the plants in.

I know this is a stupid question but everywhere i seem to read mentions nothing about whether or not i still need to put air into the tank, or if the plants will provie sufficient amount of air.

Note:

I am using a 29 gal tank to give this a test run.

Thank again for the help

Air stones take the CO2 out of the water. You put the CO2 into the water so the plants will grow. Plants take in the CO2 and put off oxygen for your fish.

It's a nice little cycle :)

If your question is "do I need to keep an airstone in the tank?" Then the answer is no. Plants will provide more than enough oxygen. In fact, even in tanks without plants, airstones are rarely necessary. They are usually only required if you have extremely high stocking levels, like in feeder tanks.
