quick kh question

2 is considered low enough to be dangerous by most folks. GH is a better measurement of what we typically call hard and soft water.

As far as Kh, if injecting Co2 almost everyone targets 3 dKH as a minimum, In my experience anything below 3 d Kh with or without Co2 can be a little dnagerous. KH is consummed by natural processes, and if you mis a scheduled water change or don't change enough it is easy to have all Kh consumed. when Kh is gone Ph can and will dive.

gotcha, gracias daveedka. I was just measuring my co2 for the first time and that seemed kinda low. Should I attempt to raise it?

I just added another bottle to my DIY co2 this morning

If you are running Co2 I would definately work on raising it. a little crushed coral in the filter will do this slowly and steadily, you can figure out how much you really need in time, but since it's slow starting with three or four tablespoons n a bag will not hurt you at all. Baking soda will also work, but it does so very quickly, so use it with etreme caution, and it's best not to add it directly to the tank.
