Quick question

you should add ammonia (with no surfectants), wait and hour and test, then add more if needed, wait an hour add more and repeat if necessary. You should wait at least an hour for the water to settle throughly before testing..... until you get to about 5 ppm.

Personally I have never used ammonia to cycle a tank..

I have always done it the old fashoned way, or seeded the filter with established media.

Do you just put in the established media into the new filter and the put the fish into the new tank and run the filter? I plan on getting another tank soon, and I tried to do the above with my last tank, but I waited a few days before adding fish...I'm not sure if it worked or not...

Yup, you want to add the fish pretty soon after moving the media though, bacteria need to eat!

Thanks. That's what I thought the problem was. :)
