Quick question.

We just won 4 goldfish at the fair playing some lame game. Yeah, I know, fair fish. Anyways, can these four goldfish go into our 55 gallon tank? We have a large pink gourami, a small pink gourami, 2 freshwater sharks, one is about 3 inches, the other is about 2 1/2 inches, and a 3 inch pleco. The goldfish are all about an inch and a half. We're gonna treat them pre-emptively for ick, etc, but what I'm concerned about is temperature and temperament.

Can they all get along?
 
Goldfish are coldwater fish, the fish that you have are not. I wouldn't suggest keeping those fish together because of this. Hopefully someone else can elaborate a little more as I don't know the exact temperature requirements of goldfish other than the fact the the water has to be cold.
 
OK, thanks a bunch!!! I figured they should be separate, but this confirms.
 
Sophiecat's correct that they should be kept separate. The reason is that keeping fish at the wrong temperature will make them more susceptible to disease, due to a depressed immune system. Keeping fish in any condition that is less than optimal will compromise their immune response.

I think there may also be an issue of introducing coldwater diseases to tropical fish, and vice versa, when they're totally unprepared historically for it. The result could be not only dead fish, but also breeding diseases with resistance to wider temperature ranges.
 
Yup, goldfish are temperate which means they can and do survive in a wide range of temperatures.
A coldwater fish is a salmon or trout.
