I am setting up a 150-gallon tank. I just had some quick questions.

1.I know I want about 10 angle fish and would like to know if silver dollars would pick on them like if they would nip the fins off of the Angles?

2.I also want some Discus but they cost 65 bucks for one at Jack’s pets so I was thinking about getting them off Ebay have any of you guys done this and what do you think about it? If you know of any other place that you recommend please let me know.

3.About how many Discus Angle and silver dollars could I have in there with some small other fish? Thanks a lot.

i'd go with 5 angels
discus i wouldnt suggest unless you know what youre doing with them... maybe rather some sevrums?

not sure exactly how nippy silver dollars are, but i think they would be okay w/angels... but ive never kept the two together so you might wait for another oppinion on that one....

in a 150 i think 5 angels and 5 sd's would be cool. 10 might be a little much, but im also not aware of what types of angels get to be what sizes....

so in short, ive input my oppinions, but provided 0% helpful or factual information! :)
good day.

Silver dollars like to be in groups. They will be more trouble to your plants than to other fish.

what do you mean plants i am having a lot of live plants. so are you saying the SD will not be to good in there.

Hi! I have 6 silver dollars and 3 angelfish in my 125g. The silver dollars pretty much keep to themselves. They don't bother anyone at all...

I also have no live plants in my tank. SD's will eat live plants down to the nub... or so I've heard! When I bought my 6 silvers, the pet store did ask me if I had any live plants because they would destroy them...

They're fabulous to watch though! Always so active! Mine love to go back and forth along the back of the tank bobbing and weaving around the UGF lift tubes, heaters and HOB filter intakes!
