Sounds like maybe you want some of those fish that barely move. Grin!
I've got danios, and I love them. Of course if I relied on the mellow tetras to keep me entertained I would go bonkers.
They are very energetic and playful fish. They are not running around because they're stressed. They eat more than other fish because they have a higher metabolic level, but like all tropical fish their eyes are bigger than their stomachs, so if their bellies are bulging they are overfed. Or else with egg. You actually distinguish female from male danios by the presence or absence of a belly. They nibble my fingers too; I think it's cute! They don't bite. I don't know if they have teeth.
I've read that it's best to feed danios twice a day instead of once. I don't know if that's true. Soemtiems I do and sometimes I don't. It's hard to feed jsut one species in the tank.
I haven't noticed that the danios stress out the other fish in the tank, which in my case are tetras, and I haven't read of that being true. They aren't aggressive fish. They spend most of their time in the upper level of hte tank away from the tetras.
